About Us

Empowering Youth Through The Game Of Golf

Welcome to the Westerdahl Golf Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to using the sport of golf to make a positive impact in the lives of young boys and girls. Our mission is to raise funds for college scholarships and provide opportunities for underprivileged children to learn the game of golf.

At the Westerdahl Golf Foundation, we hold the belief that the game of golf offers invaluable life lessons such as integrity, perseverance, and sportsmanship. It is our firm conviction that every child, irrespective of their financial background, should have access to the opportunities and lessons that golf provides. Our foundation is committed to providing underprivileged children with the chance to learn the game of golf and benefit from its many positive influences, thereby enabling them to develop vital life skills and reach their full potential.

Through our annual golf tournament and other fundraising events, we are able to raise funds for college scholarships for deserving boys and girls who have expressed a passion for golf and embody traits such as honor and integrity. These scholarships not only help to support their education but also to foster their love for the game.

In addition to providing college scholarships, a portion of our funds are dedicated to purchasing golf sets and hosting golf clinics for underprivileged children who would not be able to afford them otherwise. By introducing children to the game of golf, we hope to inspire them to develop a love for the sport and to teach them valuable life skills that will serve them well in all areas of their lives.

We are committed to transparency and accountability and ensure that every dollar raised is used to further our mission. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers who make it possible for us to make a positive impact in the lives of young people through the sport of golf.

The Scholarship Scramble is the Westerdahl Golf Foundation's signature fundraising event that takes place at Sterling Country Club in Houston, Texas. It is a fun-filled day of golf, good food, and camaraderie, all for a great cause.

The tournament is a four-person scramble format, which means that each team of four players plays together and chooses the best shot among them for each stroke. This format makes the game more enjoyable for players of all skill levels, as it eliminates some of the pressure and allows for more teamwork.

The tournament is open to all golfers, regardless of their experience level, and offers several opportunities for prizes, including a hole-in-one challenge, longest drive, and closest to the pin. We also offer various sponsorship packages for individuals and companies looking to support our cause.

All proceeds from the Scholarship Scramble go directly to the Westerdahl Golf Foundation's mission of providing college scholarships for deserving boys and girls who have a passion for golf and demonstrate honor and integrity. The event also helps us to provide golf sets and clinics to underprivileged children who would not be able to afford them otherwise.

In addition to the golf tournament, the Scholarship Scramble features a silent auction and raffle, offering participants the opportunity to win prizes such as golf equipment, vacation packages, and more. Our event also includes a banquet dinner and award ceremony, where we recognize the tournament winners and present scholarships to deserving recipients.

Overall, the Scholarship Scramble is an excellent opportunity to support a great cause while enjoying a day of golf with friends, family, and colleagues. We invite you to join us at our next tournament and make a positive impact in the lives of young people through the sport of golf

Our Story

Welcome to the Westerdahl Golf Foundation, where we strive to make the game of golf accessible to all young people, regardless of their financial background. Our foundation was born out of the personal experiences of our founder, Christopher Westerdahl.

Growing up just two miles from a golf course, Christopher had always been fascinated by the game of golf. However, despite his proximity to the course, he could not afford to play due to financial constraints. It was not until he turned 16 and took a job as a dishwasher at the golf course that he was finally able to experience the game firsthand, as one of the benefits of the job was free golf.  There, he was mentored by a generous golf professional who taught him the game for free, inspiring Christopher to pursue a career in golf.

Despite starting playing golf relatively late in life, Christopher quickly fell in love with the sport and went on to join the golf program at Sam Houston State University and earned his Class A PGA Golf Professional status.

As Christopher's passion for golf grew, he began to recognize the value of the game beyond just a sport. He saw how golf could teach vital life lessons such as perseverance, integrity, and sportsmanship, and he became determined to share these lessons with others.

It was this determination that led Christopher to establish the Westerdahl Golf Foundation. He believed that every child should have the opportunity to experience the positive influences of the game of golf, regardless of their financial background.
